Somerset County Chapter

Meetings

The board of the chapter meets monthly, except in August, normally on the second Wednesday. Any member of the ACLU is welcome to attend.

Legal Clinic

The chapter operates a Free Legal Clinic monthly, except in August, on the second Thursday of the month, 7-9pm, at the Somerset County Administration Building in Somerville. No prior appointment is necessary to confer privately with a volunteer attorney who can provide basic information on the law and initial direction on a legal problem. The attorney is not a substitute for retained counsel, but can provide referral to a list of approved lawyers or to state or community agencies and resources, where applicable.

The chapter welcomes volunteer attorneys who can serve as infrequently as once or twice a year, and lay persons who can serve as reception volunteers to facilitate the sessions (no experience necessary).
