El Comite de Trabajadores v. Freehold Borough

United States District Court/Amicus

Frank Corrado/Barry, Corrado, Grassi & Gibson

The ACLU-NJ sought to be amicus curiae in support of Hispanic day laborers who claimed harassment by Freehold Borough. The day laborers had gathered each day in a “muster zone” in an industrial section of town to find work with employers who drive by looking to hire. The town decided to close down the muster zone and give tickets to the day laborers who showed up there. On March 8, 2004, the town agreed to open the portion of the muster zone that was owned by the town, thereby ending the case.
