Somerset County Chapter

Legal Clinic

The chapter operates a Free Legal Clinic monthly, except in August, on the second Wednesday of the month. Hours are from 6:45 p.m. to 8:45 p.m. but please come as close to opening as you possibly can to avoid the eventuality of an earlier closing. Location is the Somerville Public Library, 35 West End Avenue, Somerville, NJ 08876.

No prior appointment is necessary to confer privately with a volunteer attorney who can provide basic information on the law and initial direction on a legal problem. The attorney is not a substitute for retained counsel, but can provide referral to a list of approved lawyers or to state or community agencies and resources, where applicable.

The chapter welcomes volunteer attorneys who can serve as infrequently as once or twice a year, and lay persons who can serve as reception volunteers to facilitate the sessions (no experience necessary).
