Tomijean Fernandez joined the ACLU in June 2005 as the Senior Manager of Affiliate Training and Development and most recently served as the Senior Advisor of Affiliate Equity Programs. She joined the ACLU of New Jersey in March, 2021 to serve as Special Advisor for Strategic Growth.
Tomijean brings over 30 years of administrative and management experience, program and organizational development and training. She has a long-standing work history in the national nonprofit arena with organizations focusing on empowerment issues for women and marginalized populations such as Cicatelli Associates, Inc., the Association of Junior Leagues, International and the YWCA of the USA, as well as the ACLU. Her experience includes technical assistance and consultation around assessment, management and governance issues at the board and executive level and delivering experiential trainings to develop skills and efficacy in organizational leadership. Most recently at the national level she worked with affiliates to build their capacity to be more equitable and inclusive - furthering a culture of belonging so they can do even more awesome work.
She brings her experience and expertise to the ACLU of New Jersey where her focus is to help develop systems and processes that will facilitate the affiliate’s growth.
Tomijean is a graduate of the University of Florida. Go Gators!
