Drone Regulation

Creates strong privacy protections for New Jerseyans regarding law enforcement agencies’ use of drones for surveillance purposes, including a presumption that law enforcement obtain a warrant before conducting drone surveillance (with exigency exceptions), a requirement that law enforcement discard footage or audio unrelated to an ongoing criminal investigation within 14 days of collection, a ban on the weaponization of drones, and a provision for public reporting on local law enforcement agencies’ acquisition and use of drones.
