“We thank the Senate Judiciary Committee and Assembly Appropriations Committee for passing this critical bill package to better protect immigrant New Jerseyans. Thanks to the diligent work of advocates to preserve key aspects of the legislation, these bills create protections that do not currently exist for New Jerseyans and help move us closer to a stronger and safer state where people can access state and local government services without fear of detention and deportation. ICE is brutalizing our communities with devastating consequences – we do not have a moment to lose. We implore lawmakers to send this bill package to Governor Murphy’s desk to become law, and will continue to fight for the constitutional rights of all New Jerseyans.”
