As part of their three-part series, this program dives into one of the most cherished yet contested rights: freedom of speech. In a time marked by political protests, social media debates, and the complexities of cancel culture, understanding First Amendment issues is more crucial than ever.
Kick off the morning with a keynote address from Alex Abdo, Litigation Director at the Knight First Amendment Institute, followed by a dynamic roundtable discussion featuring prominent First Amendment advocates. Led by Lawrence S. Lustberg, co-director of the John J. Gibbons Fellowship in Public Interest & Constitutional Law, this panel also includes FBT Gibbons Former Director and General Counsel Thomas Cafferty, and ACLU-NJ Legal Director Jeanne LoCicero who will explore the evolving landscape of free speech in America. Participants will leave with valuable insights into current challenges, key legal developments, and actionable strategies for defending free expression across various contexts.
