In every election, we cast our votes on the issues that impact our communities, our lives, and our futures.
In a democracy, political power is a positive feedback loop – accountability generates more accountability, participation inspires more participation, progress fuels more progress.
With every vote in an election, New Jerseyans decide whether communities will have the power to hold police accountable, whether all people can have access to abortion and other reproductive health care, whether our state will become fairer and more welcoming for all.
New Jersey’s 2025 election will decide our state’s priorities for years to come: voters will be electing a new governor and casting ballots for every seat in the General Assembly.
As attacks on our most fundamental rights continue across the country, the stakes could not be higher.
Today marks National Voter Registration Day, as well as the launch of the ACLU of New Jersey’s Vote Your Values initiative that aims to increase civic engagement and voter participation in our state elections by engaging communities on the issues that impact their lives.
Through public education, issue advocacy, and electoral engagement, we will support communities across New Jersey in exercising their power to shape our collective future. Together, we can elect officials who will protect our communities and build a better state for every single person who calls New Jersey home.
Whether you plan to vote by mail, in-person during early voting, or on Election Day, Tuesday, November 4, 2025, we hope that racial and social justice, civil rights, and civil liberties are top of mind as you cast your ballot.
The deadline to register to vote for the 2025 General Election is Tuesday, October 14, 2025. Check your registration status and register to vote here.
Together, we can build a strong, and representative democracy where every New Jerseyan’s voice is heard, loud and clear. This fall, we empower you to raise your voice and vote for your values.
