Medicaid is under attack.

15 million people with disabilities are enrolled in Medicaid, and the House of Representatives just voted to cut $800 billion from this life-saving program.

Leaders in Congress are going too far, too fast. Cutting billions from Medicaid terminates health care for millions. People with disabilities, people fighting cancer, seniors in nursing homes, children, veterans, and people with substance use disorders, will be most harmed.

We will not be quiet while millions of kids, seniors, and people with disabilities have their healthcare taken away. We see the Trump administration’s playbook clearly: divide, target, and silence us. But we will not back down.

The ACLU of New Jersey and the American Civil Liberties Union are pushing back against President Trump's dangerous executive overreach – including these drastic cuts to Medicaid that will harm families and individuals across New Jersey.

On Tuesday, May 20, the ACLU-NJ hosted a virtual town hall regarding the federal cuts to Medicaid, featuring:

  • U.S. Representative Bonnie Watson Coleman (NJ-12)
  • Maura Collinsgru, New Jersey Citizen Action
  • Brittany Holom-Trundy, New Jersey Policy Perspective
  • Theresa Luoni (impacted community member from NJ-07, Rep. Thomas Kean Jr.’s district)
  • Antoinette Miles, New Jersey Working Families Alliance
  • Amol Sinha, ACLU of New Jersey
