Early voting for New Jersey’s 2025 General Election is happening right now, and the stakes couldn’t be higher.
Voters have the opportunity this November to shape the future of our state for years to come – New Jersey will be electing a new governor and casting ballots for every seat in the General Assembly.
Voting is the cornerstone of our democracy and the fundamental right upon which all our civil liberties rest. Every eligible voter deserves to have their voice heard without intimidation or interference.
The ACLU of New Jersey has always fought to protect and expand voting rights. That’s why we’re joining partners across the state in the Million Voters Project, to ensure that New Jerseyans make their voices heard in the upcoming elections.
The Million Voters Project aims to strengthen democracy in New Jersey and make our political system more inclusive by engaging one million voters to encourage their active participation in the political process. We’re working together to make sure our political leaders pay attention to the critical issues affecting our communities each day, and that begins with you casting your ballot.
Whether you plan to vote by mail, in-person during early voting, or on Election Day, we hope that racial and social justice, civil rights, and civil liberties are at the forefront of your mind.
You can vote early in person from October 25, 2025, to November 2, 2025. On these days, only certain polling locations are open, but you can vote at any of the ones located in your county. Find the early voting polling locations for your county here. These polling locations will be open during the early voting period from 10 a.m.-8 p.m. on Monday through Saturday and from 10 a.m.-6 p.m. on Sunday.
Planning to vote on Election Day? Polls are open on Election Day – Tuesday, November 4, 2025 – from 6 a.m.-8 p.m. Find your Election Day polling place here.
In addition to in-person voting, you can also vote by mail by completing an application and returning it to your county clerk. You can also apply in person at your county clerk’s office until 3 p.m. on November 3, 2025, the day before the election.
And before you step into the polling booth, make sure you know your voting rights.
If your polling location is not open when you arrive, call our hotline at 866-OUR-VOTE (866-687-8683) or the Division of Elections at 1-877-NJ-VOTER (1-877-658-6837) to let officials know about the problem.
If your right to vote is challenged by an official challenger, ask the poll worker for an affidavit, which you will sign to confirm your identity or address. The worker will then allow you to vote either on the machine or by a provisional ballot.
