Rebecca Uwakwe (formerly Rebecca Gregory) is a Staff Attorney at the American Civil Liberties Union of New Jersey where she focuses on ending mass incarceration by engaging in litigation and legal advocacy to reduce the state's prison population.
Prior to joining the ACLU-NJ, Rebecca spent ten years at Brooklyn Defender Services, most recently as a supervising attorney. Rebecca has litigated numerous cases, ranging from misdemeanors to homicides. She has been a dedicated and effective advocate for her clients and has a deep understanding of the criminal legal system’s impacts on them and their families. She has also served as an adjunct professor and has experience leading internal equity efforts.
Rebecca graduated from law school in 2012 and is happy to be serving the New Jersey community.
