The ACLU of New Jersey is a founding member of New Jersey United for Marijuana Reform (NJUMR), a partnership of public safety, medical, civil rights, faith, political, and criminal legal reform organizations and individuals committed to marijuana legalization through the lens of racial and social justice.

NJUMR’s campaigning was a vital factor in voters approving marijuana legalization in New Jersey, and the group’s advocacy helped bring about one of the most forward-looking legalization and decriminalization frameworks in the country through the New Jersey Legislature.

NJUMR is active in making sure New Jersey’s government implements legalization with policies that actively address the racial disparities and social inequities of the war on drugs.
