In the 2026 General Election, New Jerseyans made their voices heard – loud and clear.
New Jersey voters cast ballots in races for all 12 of the state’s seats in the U.S. House of Representatives and one U.S. Senate seat. More than 1.2 million people voted during the early voting period, including by mail-in ballot, a significant increase in early voter turnout compared to the 2022 midterms.
Our democracy is strongest when elections are free and fair, and everyone feels empowered to participate. That’s why we engaged and mobilized communities across New Jersey to empower every eligible voter to cast their ballot, especially voters that have historically faced disproportionate barriers to voting, including voters of color, young voters, and newly registered voters.
We monitored the implementation of our state’s new voting rights act to ensure that voting is more accessible than ever before.
We filed suit to guarantee that government officials do not exceed their authority and put eligible voters’ access to the ballot at risk.
We prioritized public education and direct voter engagement initiatives to increase civic participation, registering new voters and reaching over 700,000 voters through our Get Out the Vote (GOTV) texting, electoral mailers, and door-to-door canvassing efforts.
We spoke on voting rights panels, hosted Know Your Rights trainings for voters, and participated in public workshops about the rights afforded to New Jerseyans under state and federal law.
These milestones have helped build community power and increase civic participation across New Jersey. Yet the fight to defend our democracy isn’t over: the Garden State must keep protecting and expanding the right to vote, combatting voter suppression, and dismantling barriers to voting that disproportionately harm our most vulnerable communities.
While the 2026 General Election is behind us, our work isn’t finished. We continue to advocate for the passage of legislation that will increase access to the ballot, including same-day voter registration.
Together, we can keep building a strong and representative democracy where every New Jerseyan’s voice is heard. It’s what New Jersey deserves.
